Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is undoubtedly the best example of the great astronomic sense of our medieval ancestors. Build of marble and stone it is one of India’s national monuments and is also the biggest observatory made of stone in whole of the world. Containing some astonishing astronomical instruments it is a must visit if you are touring the picturesque state of Rajasthan. Sundial, with its almost precise time is the best feature of Jantar Mantar along with 14 statistical instruments which are used for predicting eclipses and other such related astronomical events. Built in 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Man Singh it is one of the five such structures by the same ruler.
