Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal (Inside View), Rajasthan

Hawa Mahal Palace (Palace of Wind), Jaipur

About Hawa Mahal Palace : The Hawa Mahal or Palace of the Winds in Jiapur is one of those absolutely stunning pieces of artwork that has to be seen in person. The pink sandstone Palace was erected with full harem views coming out of 953 little windows that are finely embellished with intricate and small pieces of latticework. Embodying the former glory of the Maharaja’s of India’s glorious past, the Hawa Mahal was constructed in the year 1799 by the then Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. The women of the Palace were practicing a strict code of Purdah so they could see out but no one could see in. The most beneficial time to visit is in the early hours of Sunrise before it gets too hot where you can really see the reflection of the colour of the building in all its absolute magnificence.
